Between the Trenches – episode 6

Between the Trenches looks to provide an entertaining and informative look on the National Football League. Hosts Duane Turner and Mitch Sanderson provide insight on the latest news in the NFL and offer previews and analysis on all the teams that make up the biggest sport in North America.

Episode 6 breakdown – The NFC North

Segment 1: The Chicago Bears have had a disappointing last few seasons with Marc Trestman and Jay Cutler at the helm, but half of that equation is out the door as John Fox comes in with a new experienced coaching staff. The Bears made some decent moves in free agency, trades, and the draft, but how far will that take them after finishing in fourth place in the division last year?

Segment 2: The Minnesota Vikings’ last season was riddled with off-the-field issues involving Adrian Peterson. AP is back but the Vikes may have a new face of the franchise in Teddy Bridgewater, and a great defence led by head coach Mike Zimmer. The purple and gold look to be on the up and up in 2015.

Segment 3: The Detroit Lions suffered a huge loss on the d-line when Ndamukong Suh took his talents to South Beach (not to mention Nick Fairley) and they’re going to have some struggles adjusting to a new identity. The Lions are going to need a big step up from Matt Stafford to get back to another 11-5 season.

Segment 4: The Green Bay Packers have Aaron Rodgers, so that’s a pretty good start. The cheeseheads also recently resigned both Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, so that’s pretty good too. In simple terms, the Green Bay Packers are pretty good at football.
