Remembering the RCAF Women’s Division

Canada’s veterans will be remembered again at Centennial College’s Story Arts Centre with a full ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8.

This year’s theme is Remembering the Royal Canadian Air Force Women’s Division, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the RCAF.

Join us as we honour the stories of over 17,000 young women who answered the call during the Second World War, serving in vital roles across Canada and the Dominion of Newfoundland. These trailblazers took on diverse and challenging duties at air bases, from clerking and operating switchboards to driving trucks, repairing engines, maintaining airframes, and even flying aircraft — positions traditionally held by men at the time.

Their contributions helped pave the way for today’s strong representation of women in the RCAF.

Our ceremony is hosted by Professor Malcolm Kelly (Sports Journalism), military novelist, editor, and writer. The live broadcast is produced by the students of our Broadcast – Film, Television, Digital Media and Radio program.
