Episode 2 breakdown

Segment 1:
We jump right into a review of this week’s WWE Payback PPV and the ensuing fallout on RAW. Sunday’s event gave us a solid main event, featuring Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and the World Champion Seth Rollins. Did the right man walk away with the belt and what does the result mean for the future of the main event scene?

Segment 2:
Should the WWE bring back the roster split? The current product is struggling to find time to properly showcase all of its talent, despite having hours upon hours of television time every week. How did Smackdown!, once a prominent show, become a program that is so easily skipped? Connor expresses his skepticism over one superstar’s push and we question the logic of the closing segment of RAW.

Segment 3:
A discussion about the babyface side of the WWE roster. Who can emerge from the “back of the line”? We look forward to the return of Brock Lesnar and what that means for the world title picture.

Segment 4:
Elimination Chamber talk, first addressing a pair of excellent tag team matches between Cesaro/Tyson Kidd and The New Day. Alex praises the team for their work while addressing the controversial finish and Dario expresses his general disinterest in the majority of tag teams in the WWE. Are they actually going to shove 12 performers into the Elimination Chamber? Why aren’t the Wyatt Family included? And why are The Ascension so terrible? Also, more talk about El Torito than any podcast should ever include and a brief mention of the Intercontinental Title Elimination Chamber match.

Segment 5:
A whole segment dedicated to the John Cena/Rusev feud (plus Lana!). We bat around booking ideas, how to push Lana, Rusev as a babyface (?), thoughts on their “I Quit” match, and romance in wrestling. The future of the US Title Open Challenge comes into question, but not before it delivers one of the best surprises yet in NXT Champion Kevin Owens. Could this lead to another NXT invasion?

Segment 6:
Praise for this past weekend’s Gold 2015 event courtesy of Ontario based promotion Smash Wrestling and a look ahead to the May 23 Progressfest and Destiny World Wrestling show in Pickering. The proceeds from Progressfest are going towards supporting the Special Olympics.
