2021 Remembrance Day Observance

Centennial College’s annual tradition of marking Remembrance Day continued Nov. 11 with a live broadcast presentation from the Story Arts Centre that encompassed all campuses.

The 2021 service was hosted by professor and author Malcolm Kelly, and was been created with the assistance of Centennial’s Broadcast and Film program, as well as staff and students at our other campuses.

Honoured guests included:

  • Lt. Colonel Rick O’Neill, Canadian Army, who did three tours of duty in Afghanistan and now is Residential Program Officer at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.
  • Commander Leanne Crowe, Canadian Navy, an Afghanistan veteran who was the first woman Combat Diver in Canadian Forces history. She is now Chair, Department of Military Planning and Operations, Canadian Forces College.
  • Dan Middleton, who will appear on behalf of his father, Flying Officer Robert (Bob) J. Middleton. Bob was a regular at our services, and was due to appear again this year. Sadly, he passed away on October 13 at the age of 98. Bob flew 33 combat operations as a navigator with 431 Squadron, RCAF.
